Jaxsen Wiebe scored the overtime winner to complete the comeback for the Moose Jaw Generals on Friday.
The Generals scored twice in the third and then again in overtime to beat the Beardy’s Blackhawks 6-5 at the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League Showcase in Warman.
Jake Palmer opened the scoring for Moose Jaw in the first period and would also pick up the second goal of the game for the Generals to tie the game up at 2-2 early in the second.
Beardy’s took a 4-3 leading coming out of the second period with Cody Davis getting Moose Jaw back within one when he scored with 19 seconds left in the period.
Chase Lacombe scored a power play marker just under three minutes into the third period to tie the game. Just under five minutes later, Beardy’s retook the lead, but with just seven minutes remaining in the game, Jaxon Georget scored for Moose Jaw to tie the game and send things to overtime.
Wiebe potted the winner just 2:22 into the extra frame.
Ethan Hein made 13 saves in the win for Moose Jaw, while the Generals peppered the Blackhawks’ net with 27 shots.
The Generals are back in action on Sunday at the showcase when they face off with the Prince Albert Mintos. Puck drops at 4 p.m. in Warman.
